Trail of Crimson is a short film based on the Grimm’s Fairy Tale, Fitcher’s Bird. We are currently in pre-production. Trail of Crimson will be shooting in the South Wales area in September 2010.Additional information
We are currently casting for the roles of Francesca and Dante.Francesca (19)
Francesca’s quiet and self conscious exterior conceals inner strength and precociousness. She has spent the last seven years of her life at an all girls grammar school, where she found it difficult to relate to people her own age. Towards the end of her education she began to lose interest in academic studies and focus on drawing and painting. Rather than attend Cambridge Francesca has decided that she wants to apply to art school, however her strict parents have forbidden her from doing so.
Francesca is drawn to Dante, admiring his talent as an artist and his breadth of knowledge. She is attracted to the air of mystery, which surrounds him. In having found someone who understands her passions and desires, she feels relief. Francesca is often shy and awkward, like a child who has not yet grown used to her woman’s body. She sees herself as plain and unremarkable. When Dante transforms her into a theatrical beauty in his tableaux she is infatuated with her own reflection almost as much as she is him. In discovering Dante’s sinister secret she must use all her wit to overcome her fears.
Dante (51)
Dante is charming and confident, however darkness and menace lies beneath this facade. Although his hair is streaked with grey he has retained his handsome looks. He spent much of his youth haunted by the loss of his older brother, who died fighting in the Second World War. Dante lost both of parents in his mid thirties and he does not have any children. He chooses to spend much of his time alone, creating exquisite drawings.
Upon first meeting Francesca he recognises her beauty and sees in her the potential to enact his macabre fantasies. He finds her awkwardness appealing and is impressed by her enthusiasm for art and history. As the film progresses Dante begins to struggle with the violence of his own imagination, his fondness for Francesca challenging his morbid desires.
