Summary
Dysart Productions enjoyed a highly successful run in Edinburgh 2011 with their show - ‘The Music of Les miserable’s and other West-End musicals” – and are returning in 2012. We are looking for strong, charismatic performers for three shows. Some performers will be required to take part in two of the three shows – this is specified in the individual character briefs. In addition to The Music of Les Miserables, the other two shows are:
A Tribute to The Commitments: A show that will astound audiences with vocal talent and exceptional energy – an interactive performance where the audience mix with the singers and musicians; dancing, singing along and having a good time. Based on the 1991 film ‘The Commitments’ Irish accents will be essential for ALL of the characters. All performers who are cast in The Commitments must also feature in the Boy/Girl band show.
Boy/Girl Band: A high energy, interactive experience. Audience can enjoy the classics from successful boy and girl bands from The Jackson Five to Take That, or The Supremes to Girls Aloud.

Valjean (Male)
Male actor with an excellent singing voice (Low A to High A above middle C). Strong falsetto. Experience in musical theatre is a must. This show will run everyday for a month in Edinburgh; stamina is essential. Submissions should include males over 5ft 8” and he should have a strong presence on stage.

Javert (Male)
Male actor with an excellent singing voice (Rich baritone A below middle C – D above middle C). The voice should be rich, deep and full in order to give a divers and engaging performance. A foreboding, intimidating and stern individual although the performer should come with a sensitivity and ability to convey strong emotions through his vocal and physical performance. Must be above 5ft 8”.

Fantine (Female)
Female actor with an excellent singing voice (G flat below middle C – E flat) – full voice without overuse of vibrato. Beautiful with a strong resolve but must also be able to show Fantine’s fragile vulnerability. She must be very engaging; the audience must empathise with her struggle.

Cossette (Female)
A strong classical soprano (B flat below middle C – High C) The actress must be able to hit and sustain the High C note comfortably/powerfully – as the show runs for a month the actress must do this consistently. Beautiful, intelligent and dignified but with a youthful innocence and as such should look towards the younger end of the age scale. The symbol of hope and love in the story.

Marius/Boy Band Member (Male)
Strong vocal ability (Low A – High A Flat). This actor will be in two shows everyday for a month in Edinburgh. A full, lyrical voice is needed to carry off this part. Evidence of previous experience is required. A handsome, young romantic hero above 5ft 7”. He should be able to show the many shades of this character; strong and courageous/tender and compassionate For the boy band role the actor must be able to move (dance training is not required but should be able to move comfortably).

Eponine/Girl Band Member (Female)
Excellent vocals (F sharp below Middle C – E). Must look towards the younger end of the scale. Beautiful but tough and street-wise. She is both brave and sensitive. There is something tragic about her and this must be conveyed through physical and vocal performance. She must also feature in the girl band and as such she must have confidence and ability to interact with the audience. Dancing preferable but not necessary (although she must be able to move).

Jimmy Rabbitte/Boy Band Member (Male)
Must be able to play Piano/Guitar/Bass to Grade 8 standard (though formal recognition is not required) – bring guitar/Bass to audition. Irish accent is required and must be flawless. Must be a great performer, and good at interacting with the audience and other people on stage. Comfortable singing for a month. For the boy band role the actor must be able to move (dance training is not required but should be able to move comfortably).

Deco Cuffe/Boy Band Member (Male)
We require an exceptional lead singer with a wide rock/soul vocal range a strong belt and an ear for harmonies. He will also be a fantastic stage performer used to working with a large live band and interacting with the audience. Stamina is important as is being a team player as he will be working with backing singers. Irish accent is required and must be flawless. Some ability with an instrument is preferable but not mandatory. For the boy band role the actor must be able to move (dance training is not required but should be able to move comfortably).

2 Backing Girls for The Commitments / 2 Girl Band Members (Female)
Sexy but street-wise. Needs to be an experienced commercial performer, with good harmonies, and a strong confident belt that can be sustained over a month of performances. Used to working with a live band and interacting with the audience. Good team player. Irish accent is required. She must also feature in the girl band and as such she must have confidence and ability to interact with the audience. Actor must be able to move (dance training is not required but should be able to move comfortably).
