The National Youth Theatre are now taking applications for our 2010 Acting and Technical Auditions, which will be held during the February half term 2010.Are you aged between 13–21 and live in the UK? Want to get involved in theatre,
films, live performances, recordings, radio, television, new writing, journalism, online dramas, touring productions… pretty much everything? In stadiums, theatres,castles, fields, boats, parks, tower blocks, by the sea, in the air, your home town, someone else’s home town, across the world?
ACTING
In the audition, we aim to give you a chance to show us what you can do, both in a group and as an individual. You’ll spend
the morning in a group workshop. In the afternoon you’ll be called for your individual audition. From these two sessions, our auditioners will make their assessment by giving you a score for the qualities you demonstrate.
Relax and enjoy yourself throughout the process – remember that everyone’s in the same boat and the more you throw yourself in, the more we’ll be able to see. Try not to be nervous (okay, easier said than done but try!).
In the afternoon, you’ll need to wait in the designated area until you’re called for your audition. After the individual audition, you’re free to: leave, relax, treat yourself, do something fun, forget all about it.
TECHNICAL
The process for technical applicants is simple. We’d like to get to know a bit about who you are, how well you will fit into a team and how interested you are in your subject. It is also useful for us to find out what (if any) experience you may already have, but remember we are not necessarily looking for people with experience.
People with the right attitude and enthusiasm will often be more appealing to us than someone with loads of experience. The process is done by a simple interview with one of our Technical Heads of Department. If you’ve brought anything with you to show us, please feel free to do so in the interview, and please ask us any questions you may have – we’ll do our best to answer them!
