Monument (Short Film) Buzz Films

We are casting two parts for a short film: our lead actor, an elderly West Indian/Jamaican/African American man with long dread locks and a very strong contemporary male dancer to be the younger version of him.
1. Male / 51-60 yrs. / Black - Caribbean.
The lead character, we'd preferably like an actor with dreadlocks, but he needs to feel like he's been through a hell of a lot. This is a guy who's lost everything but through sheer bloody mindedness of character becomes a local hero.
2. Male / 18-24 yrs. / Black - Caribbean. This character portrays the inner soul, the younger self, of our lead actor. He will mainly feature in small vignettes in the character's flat and out on a council estate as the lead character is attacked by hoodies. Strong contemporary dance skills a must.The film is being produced for the 14 Islands Bahamas Film Challenge, and we're only given three weeks to make it, hence the short notice. It will be directed by award winning filmmaker Robin Schmidt and choreographed by Sarah Linstra.
Casting/Audition is by invitation only and will take place at GDA on Monday the 16th of November between 15.30 and 17.30 Borough Hall. Shoot day will be in London on Sunday the 22nd of November, location to be confirmed but most likely in Hackney.

Additional Casting Information

There will be no fee but we do reimburse expenses under £25. It will be a great opportunity to work with a professional film crew and director and we will make sure everyone gets a copy of the film on DVD by the end of the month.
