New Play to be featured in 'Not Part Of' Festival - Manchester's edgy fringe multi-arts fest from the Manchester International Festival

Cornermen is a site-specific play to be performed in a real Boxing ring at Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club and directed by Jonathan Mcgrath. The ring is our stage, our backdrop the real landscape of Manchester.

An innovative, entirely new piece of theatre by Hannah Salt. the subject matter has been devised through extensive consultation with boxing club members on issues of gang affiliation and racial/cultural tension. The play documents a relationship between two young amateur boxers whose involvement with the sport helps them to overcome negative pressures on them from their families and the wider community, and highlights the benefits the boxing club is having on the area in which it is based. Featuring a highly talented cast including Ciaran Griffiths (Shameless)

Asian Male Actor Required. One major roles remains for an experienced Actor playing age 40-50 for the role: Kaleem Hassan- Bangladeshi born, father to Aazim. ‘Ambition and racism collide, as tensions rise in a divided community, is Boxing the remedy or the weapon? Everybody picks a Corner.’
performances will be on 15th-18th July, and must be available for rehearsals 2 weeks prior to performances. please forward CVs onto me Expenses well paid

The play is showing from the 15th-18th July, rehearsals start early July and availability is required throughout the month, in return for well paid expenses and the chance to feature in an attention-grabbing piece in high-profile festival.
